A 30-Day Study Plan to Score IELTS 6.5+
An optimized study schedule for the 30 days before your exam. Practical strategies for Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
An IELTS score of 6.5, in either the Academic or the General Training module, is enough for many university and immigration applications. It is achievable with 30 days of well-planned study.
Week 1 — Get to know the test: Take a diagnostic test and identify your weakest module. Practice the format with Cambridge IELTS 17/18.
Week 2 — Reading & Listening: 2 sets a day, each followed by an error analysis. Build a vocabulary list of academic words.
Week 3 — Writing: Practice 5 different formats for Task 1 (graph/process) and Task 2 (essay). Have every piece checked by a teacher or a written feedback service.
Week 4 — Speaking & mock tests: 30 minutes of speaking practice a day and 2 full mock tests a week. Simulate time management to handle exam stress.
The most effective methods according to research are active recall and spaced repetition. Writing down what you have learned, rather than just reading, can raise your score by 0.5–1.0 bands.
